(dba Barbara Milliff Center) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Donna Wigand) to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #24-836-7 with We Care Society, Inc . (dba Barbara Milliff Center) in an amount not to exceed $200, 000, for the period from July 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 , for the provision of Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) Program services . This Contract includes a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2002 in an amount not to exceed $100, 000 . FISCAL IMPACT• This Contract is funded 51 . 35% by Federal FFP Medi-Cal Funds and 48 . 65% by State EPSDT Funds . CHILDREN' S IMPACT STATEMENT: This EPSDT program supports the "Children ready for and succeeding in school" , the "Children and youth who are healthy and preparing for a productive adulthood" , and the "Families that are safe, stable and nurturing" community outcomes . Expected program outcomes include improvement in social-emotional development, avoidance of out-of-home placements, reduction of reports involving Children' s Protective Services, increased family satisfaction, and an increased use of public and community- base resources. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : This Contract meets the social needs of County' s population in that it provides in-home, transition, and outpatient mental health services for Medi-Cal eligible children (birth through age 6) and families in order to reduce the need for out-of-home placements . On June 27, 2000, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #24-836-6 with We Care Society, Inc . , (dba Barbara Milliff Center) for. the period from July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2001, with a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2001 for the provision of Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) Program services .
