Recommended Action: DETERMINE that there is a need to continue the emergency action taken by the Board of Supervisors on July 24, 2001, pursuant to Public Contract Code Sections 22035 and 22050, to repair the Briones Valley Road Bridge, Brentwood area. [CP# 01-42) (District V) Project No.: 0662-6U4094-01 DATE: November 6, 2001 PAGE 2 II. Financiallmpact: Estimated.cost is $50,000 (100% Road Funds). III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: A. On July 24, 2001, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and authorized the Public Works Director to proceed in the most expeditious manner to repair the Bridge. B. Repair status: The proposed solution uses sections of a prefabricated Bailey style bridge to span the creek. Steel decking has been delivered. Maintenance crews have assembled the bridge components at the County yard on Waterbird Way. Hess Construction Company is constructing the foundation and will be installing the bridge shortly. Foundation work is underway. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: A negative action would slow the process of the replacement structure and would cause the project to be delayed to 2002.
