Corcoran, Auditor-Controller By: David A. Sumner, CIA, CGFM, CFE, Senior Auditor SUBJECT: Health Services Department Report of Shortage and Request for Relief of Accountability We have reviewed the attached report of a theft at the Pittsburg Health Center, which resulted in a loss of$271.48 undeposited collections and revolving funds, and the re4u6st for discharge from accountability for these funds. The Health Seruices has since improved cash handling procedures at the Pittsburg Health Center to mitigate control weaknesses that precipitated this loss. In our opinion, implementation of the security measures will deter reoccurrence of the events that resulted in this loss. In accordance with the provisions of Administrative Bulletin 207.6, since amount of loss exceeds $250 the matter should be presented to the Board of Supervisors for action. We recommend that the Board of Supervisors grant relief of shortage and accountability for these funds.
