Count ` 651 Pine Street y ° ,. p Martinez, California 945531292 October 2, 2000 Mr. George Yamamoto Deputy Sheriffs' Association 1780 Muir Road Martinez, CA 84553 Dear Mr. Yamamoto: In an effort to balance the experience of dispatch staff throughout the shifts of the Dispatch Center a shift differential will be paid to the classes of Dispatcher 1, Dispatcher 2 and Supervising Dispatcher. This shift differential will be paid at a rate of 5% of base salary for the Evening Watch and 3% of base salary for the Morning Watch. The Evening Watch is defined as any shift that contains the majority of the workday after 1601 hours and before 0001 hours. The Morning Watch is defined as any shift that contains the majority of the workday after 0001 hours and before 0801 hours. This agreement is further detailed below: Evenin±a Watch Shift Differential Effective October 1, 2000 in the hours which qualify for Evening Watch shift differential, employees in the classifications of Sheriffs Dispatcher I, Dispatcher 2 and Supervising Dispatcher shall receive five percent (5%) above their base salary rate. To qualify for shift differential, an employee must have a regularly assigned daily work schedule that requires the majority of actual working time (more than half the number of hours in the workday) from 1601 hours through 0001 hours inclusive. Morninn Watch Shift Differential Effective October 1, 2000 in the hours which qualify for Evening Watch shift differential, employees in the classifications of Sheriffs Dispatcher 1, Dispatcher 2 and Supervising Dispatcher shall receive three percent (3%) above their base salary rate. To qualify for shift differential, an employee must have a regularly assigned daily work schedule that requires the majority of actual working time (more than half the number of hours in the workday) from 0001 hours through 0801 hours inclusive. Additionally, employees who have been regularly working a shift qualifying for shift differential immediately preceding the commencement of a vacation, paid sick leave period, paid disability or other paid leave, will have shift differential included in computing the pay for their leave. However, shift differential shall only be paid during paid sick leave and paid disability as provided above, for the first forty (40) continuous work hours of each absence, to the extent permitted by law. An employee who is off due to long-term illness or disability (as defined above) will not qualify for differential. In any month that a long-term illness or disability occurs, the differential will be pro rated on a day for day basis. Said differentials shall be prorated for employees working less than full time and/or who are on an unpaid leave of absence for a portion of any given month. Relief shifts will qualify according to the base shift assigned. The relief shift employee will not lose or gain any benefit should they be assigned to provide relief on any other shift. A Trainee's base shift is Day Watch and does not qualify for this differential. Trainees may qualify for the differentials described above on the first (1 6) of the month following their release from the Training Program. The agreement, detailed above, does not in any way affect or reduce the rights reserved by the Sheriff, including those outlined in Section 10 —Work Scheduling, of the MOU.
