County Administrator - COUNTY
DATE: FEBRUARY 15, 2000
SUBJECT: City of Brentwood Redevelopment Plan Amendment
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Introduce ordinance authorizing the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Brentwood to amend
the redevelopment plan by merging two projects into one project, waive reading, and fix March
7 as the date for adoption.
BACKGROUND/REASON RECOMMENDATION:
The Redevelopment Agency of the City of Brentwood has two redevelopment projects. The
downtown redevelopment project will reach its tax increment dollar limit in fiscal 2004-2005 while
the newer, North Brentwood redevelopment plan has significant amount of tax increment
remaining. Combining the two projects allows the City the flexibility to invest redevelopment
monies where the need is greatest.
The amount of property tax pass through to the County from the redevelopment project area will
not be affected by this merger. The county will continue to receive its negotiated pass through
revenue from the old North Brentwood project area and will begin to receive mandatory pass
through revenues from the old Brentwood (Downtown) project area once the tax increment dollar
limits are reached.
A copy of the proposed Ordinance is attached.
