On September 22, 1993 she met with the fourth grade teachers at Rio Vista Elementary School. Both Ms Null and the teachers agree that it is important for the children to know the history of their community. Marcia Ashley, a fourth grade teacher explains that the students need a sense of their own community 's history before taking on the history of California as a whole . Ms Null feels that students are unaware that many local streets such as Area and Eves, are named after local familie . r that here was once a theater in West Pittsburg.
