Re: West Pittsburg Historical Museum
Elaine Null is finally beginning to achieve what has
long been a dream of hers as she begins the planning
stages of a Historical Museum for 'Wet Pittsburg resi-
dents.
On September 22, 1993 she met with the fourth grade
teachers at Rio Vista Elementary School. Both Ms Null
and the teachers agree that it is important for the
children to know the history of their community. Marcia
Ashley, a fourth grade teacher explains that the students
need a sense of their own community 's history before
taking on the history of California as a whole . Ms Null
feels that students are unaware that many local streets
such as Area and Eves, are named after local familie . r
that here was once a theater in West Pittsburg.
This is not the first time Ma Null has shared local hiss ..
tory with gest Pittsburg students , she did presentations
at Summer School sessions is 1992 &1993. She will be look-
ing to the students in the future to help her design
a logo for the West Pittsburg Historical Museum.
