County Administrator

;fir, Batchelor:
We are writing this letter to request that all members of the Contra Costa Club be given
r'ritt n notice by mail of the proposal to close the health club and that they be given a.
period of 30 days within which to give written response to the proposal to your office
and to the members of the Board of Supomeisors, After spending only two ay trying
to get signatures r a petition in reply to this matter it was very obvious that the great
majority of members are not even aware of a proposal to close the club
Although the club, is open to the general public there has been no advertisement of
that tact. How do do you recruit members without advertising?
We feel there rust be a number of ways in which to reduce the operating costs and
would to know it that his been given any consideration.
We are sure that eveny club member will feel as strongly about this matter as we do it
they are gi von notice and we urge you to give thea this consideration=

Reg Possible Closure of the Contra. Costa Club
Dear Mr, Bachelor,
I am writing to let you know my concern about the possible closure of the
Contra Costa Club. For me the CCC is a very convenient, clean and modem
place to workout. I have used the facility -6 times per week for the past
years. In those 5 years I have told many people about the club, most of theme
didn{t know it existed.
.recent months it has been brought to my attention that the rent for the
facility is a factor in its possible closure, perhaps a new lease could b
negotiated.
The closure of the CCC could be a negative health factor for its members. I
know this from personal experience because I feel healthy and refreshed
after working out.
I hope the Board of Supervisors will develop a pian to keep this wonderful
facility open. For if it closes it will truly be missed.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
Sincerely,
Darlene Fleming

Dear Mr.Lancia ilia:
l read in a newspaper artirde of September 2 y, 1999 about the threat of the Contra Costa Club closing.
l am a court reporter who works for Contra Costa County and have been stationed in, Martinez for over
a year. As soon as we transferred here f~on'? €ohmond I enrolled in the dub as had done on previous
vansfers here since 1993. it disturbs me greatly to think that a health club that is run so professionally
and conscientiously would run the risk of dosing down merely because nobody with the ab€€€ty cares to
save it,
i encourage you to stop by and use the fa--s;ity some time. You will be impressed with the
knowledgeable staff, the immaculate ccnditions, and the diverse, well-maintained equipment the snub
has to offer.
Tease save he jewel in the crown of the County's health program.
Sincerely,
Debra Mack Eastridge
