Can December 1, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #24-933-2 with Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc. for the period from July 1, 199€3 through ,lune 30, 1999, to provide admission and intensive day treatment of County-referred mentally ill persons who are in need of sub-acute skilled nursing care in an Institution for the Mentally Diseased (IMD) . The Contractor has a number of lona-term care facilities under this Contract which the County may use on an "as-needed" basis. In September 1998, the California Department of Mental Health revised rates for Long Term Care providers effective August 1, 1998. This Contract includes a six-month automatic contract extension through December 31, 1999, in the amount of $22,459. FISCAL IMPA.CTn This Contract is funded by Federal SART Block Grant Funds. No County match is required. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT This Alcohol and Drug Abuse prevention program supports the Board of Supervisors, "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing" and "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" community outcomes by providing substance abuse education and prevention services. Expected outcomes include increased knowledge about the impact of addiction; decreased use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs; increased use of community-based resources; and increased school and community support for youth and parents in recovery. BAGRt3Rl3UNDdREASONCS) FOR RECOFYMDATION(S) On November 4, 1997, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-871-2 (as amended by Administrative Amendment Agreement #24-871-3) with Bi-Rett Corporation for the period from July 1, 1997 through June 30, 1998 (which included provisions for a six-month automatic extension through December 31, 1998) for the provision of substance abuse primary prevention services in East County. Novation Contract #24-871-4 replaces the six.-month automatic extension under the prior agreement and allows the Contractor to continue providing substance abuse primary prevention services in East County through June 30, 1999.
