Appoint the following individual to an alternate member position of the Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council, for a term to expire in November, 2002. Glen Williams 305 Klamath Street Bay Point, CA 94565 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Members of the Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council are elected by members of the public. However, in the event that a vacancy occurs prior to the end of a member's term, the Board of Supervisors becomes the appointing authority. Mr. Shrivastava is being appointed to fill a vacancy created by Lilya Valladolid (who was elected during the November 1998 election period and whose term would have commenced in December 1998). Ms. Valladolid is now ineligible to serve on the Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council as she has moved out of the Bay Point area. Several vacancies have occurred in the past on the Bay Point MAC between election periods, necessitating recruitment, interviewing and appointment by the Board of Supervisors. As a result, the District V Supervisor has determined that an alternate should be appointed at this time. This alternate would attend all regular meetings. In the event that a future vacancy should occur, this alternate would automatically beppointed to fill that seat. f n f CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: SIGNATURE __r, r,. f RECOMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR 71 c 1016E ATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE r APPROVE OTHER SIGNATURE(S) ACTION OF BOARD ON January 19._1999 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED: XX OTHER: VOTE OF SUPERVISORS: XX UNANIMOUS(ASSENT _ -- — AYES: NOES: I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THIS IS A TRUE AND CORRECT COPY OF AN ACTION TAKEN AND ENTERED ON THE MINUTES OF ABSENT: ABSTAIN: THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ON THE DATE SHOWN.
