FINANCIAL IMPACT It is estimated that the ordinance revision will generate additional revenue of $425 per year. BACKGROUND/REASON FOR RE CONIIYIE NDAT I ON On May 10, 1983, in accordance with Section 12240 of the Business and Professions Code, the Board of Supervisors passe. Ordinance No. 83-16. That Ordinance allowed the department to charge an annual. registration fee for the conmerc.!..al, use of certain weighing and Treasuring devices. The original Ordinance has since been revised on six occasions to accommodate changes in the statute. Legislation has again revised Section 12240 of the Business and Professions Code by the passage of SB 1834 among other things, clarifies the fee for marinas at 860/location plus $2/device/space. SUMMAR`1 'Mis ordinance amends Ordinance section 522-2.404 to conform to Business and Professions Code;section 12240 by requiring owners of marines to pay an annual device registration fee of sixty dollars(S60)per marina,park or complex,and a fee of two dollars($2)per device per spacer. (b)Por weighing devices with capacities of 20,ODO pounds or greater,except for livestock and motor truck es: an annual fee of two hundred($20(})per device. (c)For motor truck scales,the fee shall be one hundred dollars($100)per device. (d)For livestock scales with capacities of 20,000 pounds or more,the fee shall be one hundred dollars(S 100)Iter device,except that the fee for not more than three devices at a single location shall be one hundred dollars($100). (c)For locations other thin those listed in Subsection(a)and for devices other than those subject to Subsections(b),(c),and(d).
