No County funds are rewired. REASONS ,FOR RECOMMEMDATI(:?NS/BACKCROUaD: On February 24 , 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #22-465-7 with Desarrollo Familiar, for the period from March 1, 1998 through February 28, 1999, to provide mental health assessments, individual and group therapy, and risk reduction counseling services to County-referred persons with' HIV disease and their families, in an effort to reduce the incidence of further HIV/AIDS transmission in Contra Costa. County. FISCAL IMPACT: This ' Contract is funded by Contra Costa Health Plan member premiums . Costs depend upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services . BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Contra Costa. Health Plan (Health Plan) has an obligation to provide professional psychiatric services for Health Plan members with mental health therapy services as a covered' benefit . This population includes Medi-Cal, Medicare and Comer•cia.l members enrolled in the Health Plan. On May 19, 1998, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract ##27- 077-3 , with Richard Unger, M.D. , for the period from January 1, 1998 through. December 31, 1-1998 , for the provision of psychiatric services .
