Block Grant (CDBG) funds for economic development, and to act as a
policy advisory body to the Beard of Supervisors on the use of CDBG
funds for economic development and to act as a policy advisory body
to the Beard of Supervisors on related economic development
matters .
The terms of all remaining members have expired and there is no
interest in continuing the Committee under its current charge.
The Community Development Department staff will soon be in the
process of reviewing applications for funds in the economic
development category of funding under the CDBG program. It is
necessary to have a body, which can hear appeals from the funding
decisions, which will be recommended by staff. It is .recommended
that since these decisions involve micro-enterprise development,
new construction and rehabilitation of commercial structures, as
well as job training and placement, that the Finance Committee is
the appropriate body to hear from those applicants who are not
being recommended for funding or where the applicant is being
recommended for less funding than requested.
