Student Training Agreement, #26-357 with Boston Reed College, for the period from September 1, 1598 through August 31., 2001, for the provision of clinical experience for the University' s medical students . FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S} : The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor' s medical students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher levels of performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised field work experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. Contra Costa Regional. Medical Center and Contra. Costa Health Centers can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, taking advantage of the students' services to patients . Approval, of this Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-357 will provide supervised clinical experience for students enrolled at the Boston Reed College through August 31, 2001 . FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded by Contra Costa Health Plan member premiums . .Costs depend upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services . BACKGR2UND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(g} : The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized' professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. The Health Plan is also required under the terms of its Local Initiative contract with the State, to contract with community physicians and Other providers, called "Safety Net" and. "Traditional", Providers, for the provision of medical care to Medi--Cal recipients . This Contract is necessary to meet State mandates to expand the number of community providers for the Local Initiative, along with a recent' Department of Corporations audit finding that requires formal contracts with low volume providers. Approval of this Contract will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional health care services to Health Plan members through August 31, 1999 . S .BO . per minute for mental health services, as described in the CCHMP Provider Manual, excluding group therapy sessions; b. S .14 per minute per individual for group therapy sessions, not to exceed 90 minutes per session, as described in the CCHMP Provider Manual; and c. $ 1.00 per minute for medication support services, as described in the CCHMP Provider Manual. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded by State and Federal FFP Medi-Cal Funds . BACMEtJUNDZtt MON s 5) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S) : On January 14, 1597, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution #97/17, authorizing the Health Services Director or his designee (Donna Wigand, LCSW) to contract with the State Department of Mental Health to assume responsibility for Medi-Cal specialty mental health services as of July 1, 1997 . Responsibility for outpatient specialty mental health services involves contracts with individual, group and organizational providers to deliver these services. Approval of Contract #24-949-58 will allow the Contractor to provide mental health specialty services through June 30, 1999 .'
