HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10271998 - C77 C. 77 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA' Adopted this Order on October 27,1998,by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Uilkema, Gerber,DeSaulnier, Canciamilla and Rogers NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None On this date, the Board of Supervisors considered authorizing a letter for Chair Rogers' signature to Robert Kirkwood,President, of the California State Coastal Conservancy in support of the Fast Bay Regional Park District's proposal to acquire a seven acre inholding at Miller-:Knox Regional Shoreline. (as attached) Following Board discussion, Supervisor Uilkema moved to approve this consent item, and Supervisor Rogers seconded the motion. The Board then took the following action: IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED the letter from the Board of Supervisors to the California State Coastal Conservancy and signed by Chair Rogers,is AUTHORIZED. ESR.P0 has been working since 1975 to pr vide public access to San Francisco Bay at Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline. In partne hip with the Coastal Conservancy..and other state agencies, EBRPD expanded the original fifty-four acres to the current two hundred and ninety nine acres. The effort las proven a great success, Miller/XngX is very popular with both local and regiona users. More than four hundred'and ninety thousand individuals visited the par last year. The parcel proposed for acquisition is,locat d in the heart of the perk,just off o Doman Road, and is easily accessible to th public, The inholding, is critically needed to expand passive recreation and shomfine trail o0portvnities.and will greatly , enhance public access to San Francisco Bet The Board of Supervisors urges the Conse ancy's Board to supprt the East May Regional Park District's proposal.
