LETTER.TO THE FY 1997-98 END OF THE YEAR REPORT
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENOATION(S)#BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. REMMMFNIDED ACTION
AUTHORIZE the Chair,Board of Supervisors to sign the Social Service
Department Office on Aging's Letter of Transmittal transmitting the fiscal year
1997-98 End of the Year Report to the California Department of Aging.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
III. RECOMMENDATIONOACKGRQIUND
Since 1976 the Office on Aging has been providing services for older residents of
the county under Title III & VII of the Older Americans Act. The 1997-98 End of
the Year Report provides information on our contracted out services i.e.
congregate meals, home-delivered meals, legal assistance,case management,
in home services for the frail,home visiting, in-home services registry,
transportation, and elder abuse prevention. The End of the Year Report provides
data on the programs we provide directly i.e. information and referral services,
preventive health care and disease prevention programs. In addition the report
includes activities performed through program development, coordination,
administration and planning responsibilities.
