HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10061998 - C32-C34 IN THE MAT'T'ER OF DECLARING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 1998 RESOLUTION NO. 98/481 AS ARTS & HUMANITIES MONTH IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEREAS, Contra Costa County recognizes the contributions of artists, historical societies, art agencies, scholars, museums, theatres,performing arts, libraries, schools, and foundations that represent and support the arts; and humanities; and. WHEREAS, the arts and humanities benefit and contribute to the health and well-being of the citizens of Contra Costa County by allowing people to express their creativity,providing enjoyment and enrichment for others, adding to cultural diversity through the display of events relating to cultural heritages, and creating jobs for county residents; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County actively supports the arts and humanities through the Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County and the several regional arts alliances that are functioning throughout the county; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County has arts and humanities programs that include the arts for people with disabilities, children of all ages, seniors, outreach art, inner city art,homeless art, and therapeutic institution based art therapies. WHEREAS, the Arts and Culture Commission hosted the 1998 California Art Scholars medallion ceremony in the Board of Supervisor's Chambers on May 29, 1998. Six talented Contra Costa County high school students were honored for being selected to attend the 1998 California State Summer School for the Arts; and WHEREAS, the Arts and Culture Commission was recognized statewide for its leadership role in the California Campaign to Increase State Arts Funding. Enlisting the support of legislators, government officials, arts organizations and advocates throughout the County to urge the State Legislature to increase funding of the California Arts Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board of Supervisors, County of Contra Costa,State of California,does hereby declare the month of October, 1998,as PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors present on this 6th day of October, 1998. COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the matter of the Retirement of Donna Delchini, Court Administrator Resolution No. 9 8/5 O 4 WHEREAS Donna Delchini retired from her position as Court Services Administrator at the end of March of this year and has worked in a temporary capacity until the end of September assisting in ongoing court coordination and unification efforts, it is appropriate at this time to acknowledge her professional achievements and publicly recognize her leadership in the courts, and WHEREAS Donna began her career as a clerical employee with the Animal Services Department in 1965,transferred to the Walnut Creek-Danville Municipal Court in 1968, promoted to Chief Deputy Clerk with the Mt. Diablo Municipal Court in 1981, assisted with the administrative consolidation of the Municipal Courts in early 1989, and assumed full managerial responsibility for support activities in the Mt. Diablo Judicial District in late 1995, and WHEREAS Donna has been a leader in the coordination and unification of the trial courts in Contra Costa County, and WHEREAS Donna has been dedicated in her support of staff and,judicial officers in every capacity during her long career with the courts, and has worked to improve public service, NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED that this Board takes great pleasure in congratulating Donna Delchini on her more than 30 years of service to the courts, the county and the community, and wishes her many healthy and fulfilling years of retirement. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND- Donna Delchini started as an entry-level clerical employee with the Animal Services Department in 1965, transferring into the courts in 1968. She is now retiring with over 30 years of county service at the level of Court Services Administrator, and should be recognized for her many years of public service as well as her leadership and dedication within the courts.
