BACKGROUND: During 1997, the Board of Supervisors took a formal position on 52 separate pieces of legislation and, in addition, took positions on several issues which were not yet in bill form or were reflected in the State Budget. Of these, the Board of Supervisors sponsored or co-sponsored 11 bills.
