From:THE PACHECO TOWN COUNCIL
Re:GRAYSON CREEK (FLOOD CONTROL CHANNEL)
We are writing to express the town councils concern regarding the condition
of Grayson Creek here in Pacheco. Specifically, between Second ave S. and north
to Hwy 4 and Imhoff dr.
During the heavy rains of last year the water crested to within 1 foot of the
Second ave. , Center Ave. , and the Pacheco Blvd. over ..crossirgs. With the heavier
rains predicted for this winter, we urge the Flood Control Dist. to seriouslr-
consider dredging Grayson Creek.
As you weli know, Pacheco has had its share of floods in the past. Our concern
is for the business owners and property owners that share this area that lie call
downtown. It has been brought to our attention on a number of occasions that this
project should be done and that is why we are writing this letter. My personal
feelings are that we WILL experience some flooding problems this year and I
truly hope that something can be done to prevent it. One solution is that any
and all debris that has been building up around the pillars that hold up the
over .crossings should be removed. This would create less flow restriction at
the major problem areas. Again, the major areas of concern are the Pacheco blvd. ,
Center ave. , and Second ave S. over crossings.
It is and has always been the objective of the Town Council to act in the
best intrest of the community. I dont have to mention what would happen to our
community if we had a flood like the ones weve had in the past. But I will.
Millions of dollars in property loss and damage would result and folks would
lose thier homes for who knows how long. The Pacheco Town Council wishes to
prevent a disaster before it happens and we ask that you take this matter
into serious consideration.
Thank You,
Pacheco town Council.
