SUBJECT: Salary Adjustment - Substance Abuse Lead Counselor
Dear Mr. Schlant:
This letter confirms understandings reached during our meeting on October 7, 1997,
regarding salary adjustments for the classification of Substance Abuse Lead Counselor.
s As we discussed, the following measures will be implemented to prevent further salary
compaction between the Lead class and the Substance Abuse Counselor class:
1. In addition to the 2% (20 salary levels) cost of living salary adjustment
(COLA) which the Substance Abuse Lead Counselor class received effective
10/1/97, this class will receive an additional 2.5% (25 salary levels) pay
adjustment effective 10/1/97. This will adjust the salary range for Substance
Abuse Lead Counselor to salary range C5-1729 ($2,559-3,111) effective
10/1/97. It will also establish a 6.9% differential between the Lead
Counselor and Counselor classes.
2. From this date forward, each time the class of Substance Abuse Counselor
receives a Pay Equity salary adjustment, the class of Substance Abuse
Counselor will receive an equivalent "spin-off' salary adjustment. The
Substance Abuse Lead Counselor class will no longer receive these pay
adjustments after the class of Substance Abuse Counselor receives its final
Pay Equity allocation.
It is our expectation that both the 2% (20 salary levels) COLA and the 2.5% (25 salary
levels) additional salary adjustment will be included in employees' November 10, 1997
paychecks.
