Recommended Action: DETERMINE that there is a need to continue the emergency action taken by the Board of Supervisors on September 23, 1997, pursuant to Public Contract Code section 22035 and 22050, to construct a flood wall along Grayson Creek, Pleasant Hill area. H. Financial4mnact: The contract cost of the flood wall has been estimated at $110,000. There will be no impact to the General Fund. The project will be funded from Flood Control District's Zone 3B. No.: 7520-68-9324 DATE: OCTOBER 28, 1997 PAGE 2 M. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: A. On September 23, 1997, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and authorized the Chief Engineer to proceed in the most expeditious manner to construct a flood wall along a section of Grayson Creek. B. Construction Status: The Flood Control District has advertised the project and bids were opened on October 20, 1997. If the District receives competitive bids, the construction could begin Monday, October 27, 1997. It is estimated that construction will last for five weeks (or twenty-five working days). IV. Consequences of Negative Action: Non-concurrence of the above recommendations will significantly and adversely delay construction of the flood wall.
