M. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
A. On September 23, 1997, the Board of Supervisors declared an emergency and authorized the Chief
Engineer to proceed in the most expeditious manner to construct a flood wall along a section of Grayson
Creek.
B. Construction Status: The Flood Control District has advertised the project and bids were opened on
October 20, 1997. If the District receives competitive bids, the construction could begin Monday, October
27, 1997. It is estimated that construction will last for five weeks (or twenty-five working days).
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
Non-concurrence of the above recommendations will significantly and adversely delay construction of the
flood wall.
