A COSTA CO.
ON
Board of Supervisors, Contra Costa County
651 Pine Street

To the Board of Supervisors:
On Sept. 25, 1997, roadwork was being done on San Pablo Ave. in the area of Tara Hills
Drive. Noise is expected from such projects but work went on until 11:30 P.M. close to our
home on O'Hatch Drive. I am disabled due to a stroke. My daughter who assists me has a
position that requires her arising at 5:00 A.M. This situation was extremely stressful. I
contacted the Sheriffs office to see if they could assist but was advised there was no noise
ordinance in Contra Costa County and therefore there was nothing they could do.
I was very surprised to learn that there is not a noise ordinance in our county to protect
residential areas such as ours from these types of situations. This may not occur again soon
in our area but will undoubtedly happen elsewhere. I would request that you give
consideration to developing a noise ordinance for limitations in residential areas.
Respectfully,
Richard M. Yacorzynski
