MARGARET LESHER AS A POSTHUMOUS
RECIPIENT OF THE COUNTY'S ARTS AND
CULTURE COMMISSION AWARD ON ARTS
RECOGNITION DAY
WHEREAS, October is recognized as the Arts and Culture Month throughout the United States. It is a time for
celebrating arts and culture that enriches the lives of the citizens everywhere; and
WHEREAS,the arts organizations and cultural events contribute to the economic prosperity and growth of Contra
Costa County. The Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County is dedicated to advancing the arts by
promoting communications, education, appreciation and collaboration throughout the County, as well as stimulating
creative growth in the community that celebrates diverse cultural expression; and
WHEREAS, the Arts and Culture Commission of Contra Costa County is celebrating the 2nd annual Arts
Recognition Awards on October 19, 1997 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the
arts and culture of our County; and
WHEREAS, the late Margaret Lesher was a dedicated philanthropist in support of the arts countywide.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby
honor
MARGARET LESHER
as a 1997 Arts and Culture Commission Arts Recognition Award recipient.
