IN_Co DATE; October 7, 1997 SUBJECT: Amendment to the Library Use and Maintenance Agreement between the Town of Danville and the County SPECIFIC REQUESTS OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION: Approve an Amendment to the Library Use and Maintenance Agreement between the Town of Danville and the County of Contra Costa for the library at 400 Front Street in Danville, and Authorize the Director of General Services to execute said amendment on behalf of the County. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no additional cost to the County. III. REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND- In the Library Use and Maintenance Agreement for the new Danville Library, the County agreed to pay for gas and electric services which, based on the size of the library, is budgeted at $33,000 per year. The new facility which houses the library and community center does not provide for separate gas and electric meters for the library portion of the building. This amendment provides for the Town to pay for all gas and electric services in return for the County providing up to $33,000 in additional library services. If the cost of such additional library services is less than $33,000 the County will reimburse the difference to the Town of Danville. Gilbert, Director of General Services SUBJECT: Agenda - Amendment to Danville Library Agreement (10/7/97) The Library Use and Maintenance Agreement between the County and the Town of Danville requires the County to pay gas and electric utility services for the new building at a cost of approximately $33,000 per year. The design for the new facility at 400 Front Street, which includes the Community Center, did not provide for separate meters for the library portion of the building. The Town now has agreed to pay the utilities in exchange for $33,000 of additional services for the library. This amendment will not result in any unbudgeted cost to the County, but may result in a refund to the Town if the cost of additional services provided is less than $33,000 per year.
