REAPPOINT as the Board's representative on the Board of Directors of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) for a one year term ending November 1998: Supervisor Jim Rogers 2. REAPPOINT as the Board's alternate on the Board of Directors of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) for a one year term ending November 1998: Supervisor Gayle B. Uilkema 3. DIRECT the County Administrator to notify CSAC of these appointments. BACKGROUND: The terms of office for members of the CSAC Board of Directors expire at the beginning of the annual meeting, which will be held this year November 18-21, 1997. In order to participate in the business meeting, the Board of Supervisors must designate new representatives of the Board to serve on the CSAC Board of Directors for 1998. Supervisor Rogers has been the Board's representative and has indicated that he would like to continue serving in this capacity. Supervisor Uilkema has been Supervisor Rogers' alternate. It is, therefore, recommended that the above actions be approved. Szalay xecutive Director SUBJECT: SELECTION OF CSAC BOARD OF DIRECTOR MEMBERS FOR 1998 Under provisions of the CSAC Constitution, members of the Board of Directors and alternates are elected by their respective boards of supervisors to one-year terms of office commencing with the first day of the CSAC annual conference. Any member of your Board of Supervisors is eligible for the directorship. We ask that each county Board of Supervisors blect its CSAC Director and alternate for 1998 prior to the Association's annual conference (November 18-21, 1997). Enclosed is a list of current directors, along with a form for use in notifying us of your Board's appointment. The new Board of Directors will meet at the annual conference, first by caucus (urban, suburban and rural) to nominate CSAC officers and Executive Committee members, and again as a full Board to elect the 1998 Executive Committee and to conduct other business. Details of these meetings will be sent to you at a later date. Please note that under the CSAC Constitution, Executive Committee members are elected from the membership of the Board of Directors.
