School for classroom instruction(Government Code Section 53094).

1997, be consolidated with the statewide general election of November 3, 1997, and with
every statewide general election of even numbered years thereafter; and

SUBJECT: School District Consolidation Requests of the
Orinda Union School District and the Canyon
Elementary School
Attached are the requests of the Governing Boards of the Orinda
Union School District and the Canyon Elementary School District
to consolidate their regular governing board elections with the
November 3, 1998, general election. Although not specified in
the resolution adopted by the Canyon School Board, the Orinda
School Board is requesting that the consolidation continue with
every statewide general election in even numbered years
thereafter.
The next regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors is scheduled
for January 14, 1997. I plan to list these requests on that
agenda for referral to you for inclusion in your report to the
Board in February.

BE IT RESOLVED: That the Governing Board of the Canyon Elementary School
District orders the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors to call for regular
Governing Board election on in
consolidation with the general election occurring on this some date.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the following regulations are in effect concerning
candidacy for election to the Governing Board of the Canyon Elementary
School District:
1. Each candidate for election shall pay for her/his election statement
filed.
2. Each candidate for election is authorized to provide a statement of up
to 400 words.
3. Only the candidate's statement is permitted to be sent to each voter
in accordance with California Elections Code Section 10012.
4. Each candidate for election who wishes to provide an election
statement is to pay the full amount of the projected costs of the
statement at the time of filing.
5. In the event of a tie vote, the winner or winners shall be determined by
lot.

CLERK BORESOLUTION REGARDING CONSOLIDATION OF CO
GOVERNING BOARD TRUSTEES ELECTION
WHEREAS, Education Code 5000.5 provides for a school district Governing Board to
request approval.from the County Board of Supervisors to consolidate its regular
Governing Board member election with the statewide primary, municipal or general
election, and;
WHEREAS, the Orinda Union School District Governing Board believes that it is in the best
interests of the voters of Contra Costa County to change the date of its regular
Governing Board member election to be held on the same day as the statewide
general election;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Orinda Union School District Governing
Board that the regular Governing Board trustee election of November 4, 1997, be
consolidated with the statewide general election of November 3, 1998, and with
every statewide general election of even numbered years thereafter.
