SUBJECT: CONTRA COSTA HEALTH PLAN JOINT CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDATION
A. APPOINT Mark DeSaulnier and Donna Gerber as the Board of Supervisors members of the Contra
Costa Health Plan Joint Conference Committee and APPOINT Mark Wille, M.D. and Krista Farey, M.D.
as the physician members.
B. Schedule the regular meetings to be held at least quarterly on the second Tuesday of the month and
schedule the first meeting of the Joint Conference Committee for Tuesday, September 16, 1997.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT
None.
III. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
On January 7, 1997 the Board of Supervisors approved Contra Costa Health Plan's Quality Management
Program including the program structure, QM Plan and Annual Work Plan.
The Contra Costa Health Plan Joint Conference Committee is an integral part of the program structure. There
are four voting members: two members of the Board of Supervisors, appointed by the Board, and two physi-
cian members, appointed by.the Board upon the recommendation of the Contra Costa Health Plan Medical
Director. Michael van Duren, M.D., Contra Costa Health Plan Medical Director, has recommended that Mark
Wille, M.D. and Krista Farey, M.D. be appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a one year term.
It is recommended that the same Supervisors serve on Contra Costa Health Plan's Joint Conference Committee
as serve on the Merrithew Joint Conference Committee.
