HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09091997 - C151 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS/REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FROM: Phil Batchelor Executive Director DATE: September 9, 1997 SUBJECT: California Street Frontage Improvements-Rodeo Redevelopment Project Area SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director - Redevelopment, on behalf of the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency,to execute a Second Amendment to Contract with Contra Costa County for the California Street Sidewalk Project in Rodeo; and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or his designee, to execute said Second Amendment on behalf of the County. FISCAL IMPACT No General Fund money will be used on this project. The Second Amendment provides an additional $5,000 of Redevelopment Agency tax increments (capital project funds) for this project. The total contract amount, as amended, is not to exceed $100,000. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS On July 16, 1996, the Board of Supervisors approved a First Amendment to this Contract upon the recommendation of Agency staff and the Rodeo Redevelopment Advisory Committee. An additional $35,000 of Redevelopment Agency capital funds was allocated to the California Street Sidewalk Project for costs associated with right-of-way and drainage problems. The total amount of the contract, as amended, was $95,000. In addition, the project received $35,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds and $19,500 from the Public Works Department. Public Works staff advised that due to higher contract costs, the project will result in a shortfall of $13,870. A staff recommendation to allocate an additional $5,000 available in the 1996-97 budget for the Rodeo Redevelopment Project was approved by the Rodeo Redevelopment Advisory Committee on July 22, 1997. The Public Works Department will cover the shortfall amount in excess of $5,000 using its Road Funds.
