THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on February 4, 1997, by the following vote:

SUBJECT: Contra Costa County Library System Workshop
The County Administrator and the County Librarian presented a workshop on the
Contra Costa County Library System.
Following the presentation, Chairman DeSaulnier invited the public to comment and
the following persons addressed the Board:

All persons desiring to speak having been heard, the Board discussed the issues and
took the following action:
1. CONSIDERED letters received from library patrons regarding the proposed
changes to the Contra Costa County Library System;
2. CONSIDERED information presented by the County Administrator and the
County Librarian relative to the Workshop on the Contra Costa County Library
System; and
3. DIRECTED the County Administrator and the County Librarian to provide a
report to the Board of Supervisors on March 4, 1997, at 3:00 p.m., defining
the proposed performance contract, providing cost estimates for a ballot
measure, delineating the consequences of the proposed break-up of the Central
Library, defining the regional governance issues and addressing other issues
as noted including: return to source, zone voting, local control and conflict
resolution proposals.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and
correct copy of an action taken and entered on the
minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date
shown.
