No, 97/90 Designated employees and Judicial Officers of the Court are exempted from the County Merit System (County Ordinance Code Section 33-5.349) and are governed separately in theirterms and conditions of employment by authority of California Rules of Court, Rule No. 207. Pursuant to Standards of Judicial Administration Sec. 27 the Court administers an approved personnel plan for Court appointed employees that provides for wage and job classification, employee benefit plan, recruitment, selection, training, promotion, discipline, and removal of employees of the court. By direction of the Court, the salary and benefit levels of Court employees, if not established specifically by the State, have generally conformed to those represented, unrepresented and management classes in the County merit system whose duties and responsibilities are similar; except that certain Court classes have been differentiated from their merit system counterparts in type of benefits provided.
