Contra FROM: Phil Batchelor, County Administrator � __ Costa � ���� � y :4 County : ./Tye DATE: December 9, 1997 ` SUBJECT: TRANSFER OF CROCKETT CO-GENERATION PLANT PROPERTY TAXES TO VARIOUS CROCKETT COMMUNITY GROUPS SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION . Recommendations: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the transfer of$230,000 from the Crockett Co-Generation Property Tax Allocation.for five projects as recommended by the Crockett Community Foundation; and APPROVE and AUTHORIZE corresponding appropriation adjustments. Background: In September 1995, the Board of Supervisors appointed the Crockett Community Foundation as the advisory council to the Board regarding expenditures from the Community Benefits Program funded from property tax assessments on the Crockett Co-Generation Plant. On September 4, 1997 by the attached Resolution 97-3, the Crockett Community Foundation recommended that $230,000 in property taxes obtained from the Crockett Co-Generation Plant be allocated to: 1. Crockett Library, a total of $14,000 to allow continuing an additional six (6) hours of operation. 2. Crockett Recreation Association, a total of $24,000 for maintenance repairs to the Crockett swimming pool and park facility. County Service Area P-1/R-1, a total of $34,000 for augment ongoing operation and maintenance related items for the Crockett Community Center. 4. Crockett Carquinez Fire Department, a total of $73,000 to purchase capitol equipment and augment ongoing capital improvement of its facility. 5. Crockett-Valona Sanitary District, a total of $85,000 for capital improvements in wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
