BACKGROUND:
The high level of success accomplished in the first twelve to eighteen months of
operation has more than justified the renewal of the four contacts in this program.
Each is a collaborative of community based and governmental agencies focused on a
specific target community in an attempt to strengthen and develop the resources of the
community, make it possible for community families to become more self reliant, and
reduce the existing and potential involvement with the Child welfare system. In the
course of administering this program the State Department of Social Service continues
to revise its allocation of the Federal funding. The Social Service Department wishes
to pass any additional allocations on to the contractors carrying out the program in the
four targeted communities.
