Application to request funding of Homeless Shelter Program for Single Adults
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDATIONS:
A. APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Director of the Health Services Department`or his designee to
execute and transmit an application along with the necessary certifications and assurances to the
Contra Costa County Community Development Department requesting $200,000, in CDBG funds
for the County's homeless shelter program for single adults at the Brookside and Central County

shelters at capacity on a year round basis. We are seeking funding from all available sources in order to
maintain the emergency shelter program. The historical sources of funding for this program are no longer
adequate to meet the need. Without additional resources, the County may have to reduce shelter services.
Continued operation is vital to the success of other programs within the County's continuum of care. These
shelters are essential because they are the point of entry for many homeless single adults. Year round
operation of this program will enable the County to maintain needed shelter and support services to Contra
Costa's homeless adult population, providing them with the opportunity to stabilize their lives, address the
issues which led to homelessness, and develop action plans to address their particular needs.
