Gilbert Director of General Services Contra Costa County 1220 Morello Ave., Suite 200 Martinez, CA 94553 RE: Surplus Water Tender and Equipment Dear Mr. Gilbert: The Contra Costa County Fire District has a 1958, 1200 gallon, water tender to survey out per list dated 7/31/96. The Fire Commission has authorized the disposal of this unit at their Commission Meeting of October 14, 1996. Their desire is to sell the unit to a local agency in order to maintain this resource for major emergencies. Mr. Brad Peconom, University of California, Department of Forestry and Management, Russell Reservation in the Briones area (4927 Happy Valley Road, Lafayette) has expressed an interest in acquiring the water tender. They, in turn, would maintain it in an operational condition for Fire District emergency use. We are currently exploring those possibilities. We would request that your office proceed to have this vehicle declared surplus by the Board of Supervisors and authorize the Fire District to dispose of same. This vehicle may be of some interest to other County fire agencies, and they will be alerted by sending the attached list. Should there be no intra-county or inter-fire agency transfers, we would like to send surplus items to public auction at "Nationwide Commercial Auction Services" in Napa and/or dispose of items ourselves. We will also transport the surplus equipment to the auctioneers ourselves. Vehicle and related equipment will be removed from the County Inventory List when disposed of or sold. 2010 GEARY ROAD • PLEASANT HILL, CALIFORNIA 94523-4694 • TELEPHONE (5 10) 930-5500 ' FAX 930-5592 ❑ 4527 DEERFIELD DRIVE • ANTIOCH, CALIFORNIA 94509 • TELEPHONE (510) 757-1303 • FAX 754-8852 ❑ WEST COUNTY AREA • TELEPHONE (510) 374-7070 • Mr. Barton J.
