County County Administrator DATE: October 22, 1996 SUBJECT: FIRE DISTRICT PARAMEDIC ACCREDITATION AGREEMENT Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDATION: Approve and authorize Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Chief Allen Little to execute agreements with American Medical Response (AMR) regarding paramedic programs in the Contra Costa County, Moraga and Orinda Fire Protection Districts . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa County, Moraga and Orinda Fire Protection Districts currently provide, or are in the process of establishing in the near future, enhanced emergency medical response services in the form of paramedic engine companies . State and County regulations require that paramedic program employees participate in a supervised pre-accreditation evaluation program. AMR, the County' s ambulance service provider, has agreed to assist the fire district paramedic programs by providing the required paramedic accreditation evaluation.
