THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on by the following vote:
AYES: Superivisors Rogers, Bishop, DeSaulnier, Torlakson, and Smith
NOES:

ABSTAIN: RESOLUTION NO. 96/460
SUBJECT: In the Matter of Honoring the County's Floodplain Management Team
Whereas the Floodplain Management Team was established to provide coordination and
direction to the County's Floodplain Management Program;
Whereas the Team was an interdepartmental compilation of staff from the three
departments of the Growth Management and Economic Development Agency working
cooperatively together to lend their particular expertises;
Whereas the Team reviewed the Program and made a number of innovative changes
which have significantly improved it;
Whereas the Program was enhanced to such an extent that the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) that evaluates such programs, reduced the Community
Rating by two points which represent a 15% savings in insurance rates for everyone who
has flood insurance;
Whereas the County's Floodplain Management Program is now a model for other agencies
to emulate;
Whereas the committee consisted of Rich Lierly and John Capozzo from Public Works,
Eileen Doten from GMEDA, Steve Pouliot, Mickie Perez and Soen Thung from Building
Inspection; Bob Drake and Donna Allen from Community Development;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County does honor, recognize and commend:
