HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10081996 - C71 0, 71 Contra TO: REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY '•/f + ' Costa J�: FROM: Phil Batchelor. `' T � County Executive Director DATE: October 8, 1996 SUBJECT: Market and Chesley Railroad Crossing Improvements, North Richmond SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS (S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director - Redevelopment to sign a contract between the County Redevelopment Agency and the Southern Pacific Transportation Company for the construction of improvements of the Market Avenue and Chesley Avenue railroad crossings located in the North Richmond Redevelopment Project Area. FISCAL IMPACT No General Fund money will be used on this project. The total estimated contract amount is $228, 000 and will be funded out of Bond Proceeds as shown on the adopted FY 1995-96 budget. BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS A major redevelopment activity in North Richmond is to improve and upgrade the existing infrastructure. Market Avenue and Chesley Avenue, major corridors which connect the North Richmond community to the surrounding cities, are very substandard and are slated for improvements.
