In accordance with a Board Order approved July 19, 1994, the Private Industry Council was directed to make recommendations for appointments to the Council directly to the Board of Supervisors, without the need to go through the Internal Operations Committee. On June 21st, applicant recruitment letters were sent to educational agencies advising that Sylvester Greenwood's term on the PIC would expire 9/30/96 as he has served the full 3 two year terms which is the maximum that individuals can serve on the Council. Three applications were received (see attached) - all applicants were interviewed by PIC Council members. The PIC recommends the appointment of Dr. Alan Newell, Superintendent of Schools, Antioch Unified School District. Dr. Newell has background and experience with workforce development, is familiar with programs operated by the PIC and would be an asset to the PIC in the development of its One Stop Centers and the formation of a Workforce Development Board. PIC members serve as directors of the Private Industry Council, Inc. non-profit organization and as such, Dr. Newell should be appointed to the non-profit organization. Individuals who are no longer members of the PIC are precluded from serving as a director the non-profit organization. 09/13/96 15:49 $510 757 2937 AVSD Jpp6;p08 Rgturn original application to: I w applyiq for: PRIV= XNNO RY Ca=CIL 1423 Hisao Lane* *100 ZVOC*TION Coaea=d, Ch. 94520 Representative position on the PRIVATE MMUSTAY COUCIL I+ c1199!
