RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and- authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Chuck Deutschman) , to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #24- 604-5 with San Ramon Valley Community Services Group, effective November 15, 1995, to amend Novation Contract #24-604-4 (effective January 1, 1995 through September 30, 1995, with an automatic three-month extension through December 31, 1995) , to add $4,000 to the automatic extension payment limit, from $7,221 to a new total of $11,221. Ii. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded under a Grant Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (CSAP) for the "Partnership for a Drug Free Contra Costal' Project. No County funds are required. Novation Contract #24-604-4, in the amount of $21,663, for the period from January 1, 1995 through September 30, 1995, includes a three-month automatic extension through December 31, 1995, in the amount of $7,221. Approval of this Contract Amendment Agreement increases the automatic extension payment limit to $11,221. III. REASONS -FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: The Contractor's services under the Partnership for a Drug Free Contra Costa Project include facilitating the development of long-range, community-wide prevention programs and projects in an effort to reduce alcohol and other drug abuse and related consequences through the continuing assessment, development and implementation of the County's Drug and Alcohol Action Plan which was placed on the ballot and adopted by County voters in June, 1990. This Contractor has been providing alcohol and drug abuse prevention services for the "Partnership for a Drug-Free Contra Costal, Federal Grant Project (CSAP) under Novation Contract #24-604-4 approved by the Board of Supervisors on March 14, 1995. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #24-604-5 will allow the Contractor to institutionalize the Partnership, with focus on recruitment of members which represent different community sectors and the inclusion of youth members. Federal "Carry Over" funds approved for institutionalization of the Partnership Initiatives have been articulated by the South County Regional Steering Committee in terms of a series of youth training activities and community building,Zevts scheduled for November and December.
