SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE ARTS AND CULTURE COMMISSION OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
1. APPOINT to the vacant at-large seat on the Arts and Culture Commission of
Contra Costa County, to replace Nada Lewis, to complete an unexpired term
ending June 30, 1999:

BACKGROUND:
The Arts and Culture Commission consists of 9 members, one appointed by each
member of the Board of Supervisors and four at-large seats, nominations for which
come through our Committee. Nada Lewis, one of the at-large members, has
resigned.
Our Committee interviewed those applicants who appeared for the interview on
December 18, 1995 and has recommended the appointment of Ms. Dunlap.

Special Interests:
I lived in London from April 1984 - September 1985 (husband doing a B of A Project)
and from January to May 1987 (teaching for DVC's foreign study program). I have travelled
extensively in Europe and Asia, especially Greece and Turkey.
I hold subscriptions to Berkeley Rep., ACT, Magic Theatre, Cal Shakespeare, Ashland
Shakespeare, .Center Rep (past), Cal Symphony (past), S.F. Symphony, Philharmonia
Baroque,S.V Ballet, S.F. Opera, Member of S.F. Museums, S.F. MDMA, Archaeology

Statement:
I am very excited about the increasing ethnic diversity in our county and would love to work
on showcasing non-European culture especially art, music and dance.
