HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 02271996 - C62 t r THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this order on February 27. 1996 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Rogers, Bishop, DeSaulnier, Torlakson and Smith NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: In the Matter of Amending Board Resolution 95/618 Resolution No. 96/80 WHEREAS the Board adopted Resolution No. 95/618 on December 19, 1995, which provided a cost of living increase (COLA) for employees in the Child Development Division of the Community Services Department, and WHEREAS, due to administrative oversight, two job classifica- tions were inadvertently not included in the Board Resolution. NOW THEREFORE, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as Governing Board of the County of Contra Costa, and all districts of which it is the ex-officio Governing Board, RESOLVES THAT: Board Resolution 95/618 is hereby amended to add the following job classifications: CLASSIFICATION CLASS CODE Community Services Building Services Worker-P 9KW8 Community Services Junior Accountant - Project 9JW2 Said classifications are to be adjusted upward on the Basic Salary Schedule by 27 levels (2. 735%) effective February 1, 1996, and retroactive lump sum pay will be calculated from July 1, 1995, through January 31, 1996. Lump Sum Payment. All persons who occupy a permanent position in any of the above listed represented and management classifications or who are authorized as limited term employees on July 1, 1995, shall be retroactively compensated back to July 1, 1995. In lieu of a retroactive pay requiring special payroll recomputation processing back to July 1, 1995, the County will make a lump sum payment to each employee for the period from July 1, 1995, through January 31, 1996, computed as follows: Employee regular pay, overtime pay, and specific other earnings ordinarily computed as a percentage of base pay will be added together for each applicable pay period to determine the Retro Pay Base (RPB) . This base will be multiplied by the designated percent: (%) . The payment amount thus computed will be added to the employee's March 10, 1996, paycheck where it will be listed separately as a LUMP SUM PAYMENT and will be subject to normal tax withholding and retirement deduction requirements. Any employee believing there is an underpayment resulting from this methodology exceeding $30. 00 may contact the Human Resources Department and the Auditor's Office will investigate and issue the additional pay, if owed, as soon as possible. As stated two job classifications were inadvertently not included in that resolution. Please schedule this for the Board's meeting on February 27, 1996. Following Board approval, the employees can then receive their retroactive lump sum pay in their March 10, 1996, pay checks.
