WE4MAS, Verne and Emogene 196erts were married in Antioch, CaCfornia, on March 1,
1946;and
'WMEnAS, daughterSally, son-in-law Davidandgranddaughters-7ennifer andSandra wilt
honor them at a cele6ration of their 50th WeddingAnniversary on March 3, 1996;and
`tVJ&T< S, Verne R96erts is a well known and respected community leader. Me was on the
Antioch City Council from 1960 to 1972 and served as Mayor in 1962 and in 1968. He has 6een
honored with the title Antioch Mayor-Emeritus for Life. 'Verne has served on the Antioch(Planning
Commission, the WScreation Commission and the BART Ertension Committee. 9!e was a member of
the LocalAgency Formation Commission serving as chairman for one year. Me has chaired the East
Bay Division of the League of CaCtfornia Cities and the Contra Costa County Mayors Conference. 9fe
served as the Mayors' Conference representative to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District,
served on the County Sofid Waste Commission, the Tri-Delta Transit Board, the (Delta Dia6Co
Sanitation District Boardand the,' ighway 4 Taskforce;
10EM.AS, in addition to 'Verne's involvement in localgovernment, doth have 6een active
other community activities. Y(e started the Antioch-Chichi6u Sister City (Program in 1977 and
continues to serve on the 6oard ale is a board member of the Antioch MistoricaCSociety, a 50 year
mem6er of the Antioch-BrentwoodLodge #175 Free andAccepted Masons. He started and served as
Scout Master of Cu6 Scout Troop #92 and is Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop #151. Verne is a
charter member of the Antioch eZ Brentwood V(FW(Post 6435 and was chapter Dad andAthietic
Advisor of Antioch Demolay.
IVJ&RXAS, Emogene is(Past(President of the Antioch(Parents-Teachers Association, served
as Gid Scout leader for ten years, is a mem6er of the Antioch Women's Clu6 and the AuigAzary of
�VIFW 6435. She regularly volunteers at Budget Barnfor Delta Memoria(Mospital Eoundation..
