Dear President;
The Contra Costa Police Athletic Association is bidding to host the 1998 California
Police Summer Games. The bid must be presented in Long Beach on March 21,
1996.
I am enclosing a sample resolution that describes the Games and its impact on
Contra Costa County. We are requesting a resolution in support of the efforts of the
association from the Board of Supervisors. Since the bid must be presented on
March 21, we are requesting that the resolution be available by March 1, 1996. The
address of the association is: Contra Costa Police Athletic Association, 2151 Salvio
Street, Concord, CA 94520, Attn: Neil Stratton.
We are looking forward to hosting the Games and hope we can count on your
support.

(SAMPLE RESOLUTION) "
In the matter of inviting the California Police Athletic Federation to select the
Contra Costa Police Athletic Association to host the 1998 California Police Summer
games. (Resolution No. )
WHEREAS, the California Police Athletic.Federation will consider the Contra '
Costa Police Athletic Association as host for the California Police Summer Games to
be held 21 - 27 June, 1998, at its spring, 1996, meeting in Long Beach; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Contra Costa Police Athletic Association to better
police-community relations, sponsor sporting events, and to help local youth
programs will be well served by hosting this event; and
WHEREAS, over 6000 California law enforcement officials from Federal, State, and
Local agencies will compete in over 50 different sports; and
WHEItEAS, attendance by the public at these venues is free of charge; and
WHEREAS, the Games will be used as a fundraising effort by the Contra Costa
Police Athletic Association to further its goals; and
WHEREAS, the Games can be expected to generate between 8 and 10 million
dollars for the local economy; and
WHEREAS, supports the Contra
Costa Police Athletic Association in its efforts to secure the bid for the 1998
California Police Summer Games.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOIXED that
recommends the California Police Athletic Federation award the bid to host the
1998 California Police Summer Games to the Contra Costa Police Athletic
Association.
