Burnett 890 Hamilton Drive Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 22 January, 1996 Mark DeSaulnier, Supervisor District 4, Contra Costa County 2425 Bisso Lane, Suite 110 Concord, CA 94520 Dear Mark: As you are aware I have represented District 4 as a member of the Substance Abuse Advisory Board since 1992 when Sunny originally appointed me to the position. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve and I thank you for your support with your subsequent appointments. In December I accepted a new position outside of banking and outside of Contra Costa County with the Spanish Speaking Unity Council located in The Fruitvale district of Oakland. As the new Director of Business Assistance &Economic Development I am charged with improving the business climate and quality of life for the residents via the growing of existing and new business in The Fruitvale. It is part and parcel of the"grow business- grow employment" concept. While I have sat at the table of business development before, I am now sitting in a new chair and learning new perspectives and skills. Prior to this I have headquartered and worked in Contra Costa County. The new work environment takes me to Alameda County, and I have become one of those "commuters". My new duties preclude my effective participation as a member of the Substance Abuse Advisory Board, and I will not just take up space and deprive another citizen who may wish to contribute to a solution in substance abuse issues. It is with great regret that I submit my resignation as your representative effective with your receipt of this letter. Thank you again for the unique opportunity afforded me and the enjoyment I have received participating as a member of the Substance Abuse Advisory Board. Sincerely, Peter B. Burnett cc: Chuck Deutschman, Dept. Director David Travers, Chair
