ACCEPT the resignation of Diane Door from at-large seat #17 on the Women's Advisory Committee, DIRECT the Clerk to apply the Board's policy to filling the vacancy and REFER the vacancy to the Internal Operations Committee. 9. AUTHORIZE the Women's Advisory Committee to advertise for, recruit for, screen and present their recommendations to the Internal Operations Committee to fill the two remaining vacancies on the Women's Advisory Committee. BACKGROUND: Staff to the Women's Advisory Committee has noted that the term of office of eight members of the Committee expire February 28, 1996. One of these individuals has asked not to be reappointed. In addition, Diane Door has resigned from the Women's Advisory Committee. Our Committee has carefully reviewed the applications from the individuals who wish to be reappointed. Their attendance and participation in the work of the Women's Advisory Committee has been excellent and we see no reason not to reappoint each of the individuals. We are also recommending that the Women's Advisory Committee be authorized to recruit for, screen and present their recommendations to our Committee to fill the remaining two vacancies on the Women's Advisory Committee. -2- Conha Cotta County Y Kitty Angel 20 Allen Street • Martinez, CA 94553 510-370-5056 Chair—634-1856 FAX—634-2542 District v DATE: January 31, 1996 Nina Junco District I TO: Claude L. Van Marter, Assistant County Administrator LeAnn Winton District 11 FROM: Karen Butlekkaff to the Women's Advisory Committee Kathleen Clark District III SUBJECT: Appointments to the Women's Advisory Committee Barbara Pankau-Allenza District IV This responds to your request for information regarding terms of office on the Women's Advisory Committee which expire February 28, 1996. The attached Sharon Barone table provides the specific information requested regarding those members who Augustine D.Dobbins P P q g g Kate Ertz-Berger are interested in being reappointed to their seats. I do not know of any reason Christine Dean whyan of them should not be reappointed for another term. Only one Nancy J.Atkinson Y PP Y Patricia Seek member, Linda Ray (Seat #14), is not interested in being reappointed. Elaine G.Swenson Sue Osborn Jennifer Steneberg I am also enclosing for your information copies of the most current applications Sharon Lilly on file for those members seeking reappointment. I have requested that the Wanda Harris Carletta L.Starks members provide me with an updated application, if necessary, which I will Donna Baldwin Dunaway forward to you. Otherwise, you can assume the applications to be up-to-date. Linda G.Ray Barbara Jensen Maria Lemus Regarding your request for information about any potential candidates for the Jeanene Ferguson soon-to-be-vacant seat (#14) the Women's Advisory Committee currently has Phyllis L.Gordon Betty Lou Kasnoff on file applications from 10 individuals who have in the past expressed their interest in being considered for a seat on the Committee. Some of these individuals were actually interviewed the last time the Committee had vacancies, but were not selected, due to there being a greater number of applicants than seats. The Committee does not at.this point have a recommendation to forward Karen Butler to the IOC. However, given the approaching vacancy, I anticipate that the Staff Membership Review Committee will be holding interviews in February to meet 510-370-5056 with these and other individuals interested in being considered for membership. 510-370-5098 Fax I would expect that a recommendation would be forthcoming towards the latter part of February. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need any additional information, please don't hesitate to call me at x5-5056.
