BACKGROUND:
Mickie Perez, Chief of the Property Conservation Division of the Building Inspection
Department, has advised our Committee that the terms of office of three members
of the Loan and Grant Review Panel expired December 31, 1995. Two of these
individuals wish to be reappointed, their attendance his been good and our
Committee sees no reason not to reappoint them.
Mr. Victor Mena has resigned his seat and Mr. Bernie Bautista has asked not to be
reappointed. We are, therefore, recommending the reappointment of Mr. Stevenson
and Mr. Jennings and that staff be authorized to recruit for the two vacancies and
return their recommendations to our Committee.

SUBJECT: Reappointments to Community Development Rehabilitation
Loan Review Panel
This is to recommend that William P. Jennings and Ida Stevenson be
reappointed to the Community Development Rehabilitation Loan Review
Panel for a period of two years beginning January 1, 1996. Their
extended term would expire December 31, 1997.
Mr. Jennings and Ms. Stevenson have given their verbal commitment
for reappointment. Both members have satisfactory attendance for
the past term.
The Neighborhood Preservation Program staff and the Loan Review
Panel have a good working relationship and we see no reason why
their reappointments should not be made.
In addition, two members of the Loan Review Panel have retired
their finance field positions in the panel due to health reasons.
We are taking steps to replace them. If you have any suggestions
for interviewing and appointing new members, please contact me.
Please contact our office at 335-1137 if you have any questions.
