APPOINT to the Substance Abuse Advisory Board for the balance of a three- year term ending June 30, 1998: Lisa Korpus 2444 Cherry Hills Drive Lafayette, CA 94549 BACKGROUND: The Substance Abuse Advisory Board has advised our Committee of a vacancy in an at-large seat due to the resignation of Paul Rich from his seat last year. The Substance Abuse Advisory Board has reviewed available applications for this seat and has recommended the appointment of Lisa Korpus. We are pleased to endorse this recommendation, particularly since Ms. Korpus is a high school student and will bring an important youth perspective to the deliberations of the Substance Abuse Advisory Board. During the last three years, I helpe pass Pleasant Hill' s 100% no-smoking ordinance, support the "NO on 188" campaign in last November's election, and became the driving force to eliminate the use of tobacco by faculty and staff from all of the schools within the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. While staying involved -in community activities, this gives me a feeling of satisfaction by giving tsomething back to my community and its veople. Information: I.
