HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12301996 - U1 X91 + IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the matter of recognizing ) Lisa Dobey for her outstanding work ) for the Battered Women's Alternative ) RESOLUTION NO. 96/562 .I i WHEREAS: Lisa Dobey worked at the Battered Women's Alternatives("BWA") in Contra Costa County from 1989 thru 1996; and WHEREAS: Lisa Dobey initiated the"On and Off the Field" Project in collaboration with the Junior League of Oakland/East Bay. This project reaches middle school students in Contra Costa County with a curriculum concerning prevention of relationship violence; and WHEREAS: Lisa Dobey expanded the BWA children's program by providing a licensed daycare center at Transitional Housing and began the Positive Images program for boys at Transitional Housing; and i WHEREAS: Lisa Dobey raised thousands of dollars which provided vital services for the . families of Contra Costa; and WHEREAS: Lisa Dobey became the face to the community for BWA and generated community support for the programs and services of BWA; and WHEREAS: Lisa Dobey participated in the visioning and fundraising for the Rollie Mullen Center which will open in January of 1997. This Center will provide the "seamless services" for battered women and their children through the merging, on site, of the emergency shelter and transitional housing. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors honors Lisa Dobey for her commitment to women and children of Contra Costa County in her unstinting dedication, boundless energy and hard work she has undertaken for the citizens of s Contra Costa County.
