Sponsoring a Video of the Department's Diverse )
Workforce )
WHEREAS,the Affirmative Action-Committee of the General Services Department wanted
to highlight the diverse workforce by showing employees who work in divisions that include
Administrative and Fiscal Services, Architectural Services, Building Maintenance, Central
Service, Custodial Services, Fleet Management, Grounds Maintenance and Recy-
cling/Resource Recovery, Hospital Maintenance, Lease Management, Purchasing, and
Radio/Telephone Communications; and
WHEREAS, the Affirmative Action Committee is proud of the work that departmental
employees perform such as initiating many innovative programs in energy use reduction
through lighting retrofits and more efficient building heating and cooling systems and
controls,joint purchasing agreements with other public agencies, cost savings in telecommu-'
nications, and development of the recycling and resource recovery programs; and
WHEREAS,the General Services Affirmative Action Committee,in cooperation with Contra
Costa TV, has developed a video presentation showing the vital services provided by the
Department's multi-cultural workforce;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that the General Services
Department and its Affirmative Action Committee are lauded for sponsorship of the video
production exhibiting the services provided by the Department's diverse workforce.
