MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: November 14, 1995 SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Change Order Nos. 1 and 2 for the Alhambra Valley Road Slide Repair, Project No. 0672-6R6529-93, Martinez area Specific Request(s)or ecommendation(s)&Background&Justification I. Recommended Action: APPROVE Contract Change Order Nos. 1 and 2, in the approximate amounts of $27,000.00 and $5,000.00 respectively, and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute them in order to compensate the contractor, Sarott Construction Co. for item restructuring and unforseen extra work. II. Financial Impact: The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. The source of funds is Federal Aid Storm Damage Repair Funds (88.5%) and County Road Funds (11.5%). III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The cumulative total of Contract Change Orders Nos. 1 and 2 exceeds $25,000.00, requiring Board approval. Additional rock slope protection and roadway excavation were necessary to complete the project. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would preclude payment for work performed in good faith.
