IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Declaring November 1995 )
as HOMELESS AWARENESS MONTH ) RESOL UTION NO. 951505
in Contra Costa County )
WHEREAS, the number of people who are without permanent affordable housing or who are at
risk of losing their housing has increased significantly over the last decade; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County and many non-profit agencies within the county are dedicated
to providing relief for homeless people and to finding ways to eliminate and to prevent
homelessness; and
WHEREAS, public education about the critical needs of homeless people and participation in the
public and private programs that assist them are essential to ending homelessness; and
WHEREAS, we recognize the tremendous accomplishments of those individuals and families who
have overcome barriers to end their homelessness; and
WHEREAS, we also recognize the dedication and commitment of public employees, private
agency staff, volunteers, and community members at large who generously give of themselves
to help the homeless.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares November 1995
as HOMELESS AWARENESS MONTH in Contra Costa County and urges all citizens to help
end homelessness.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON October 24, 1995, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
present.
